Working Against Violence, Inc.
SDYC is in its second year of partnering with WAVI (Working Against Violence Inc.) in Rapid City. WAVI's mission is working to create a community free of domestic abuse and sexual assault through advocacy, education, and support services. And there are several opportunities to help! Check this out.
Friday night silent auction
There will be a silent auction on Friday night during the welcome social, and it's a good one! Last year, we auctioned off some beautiful planters were able to raise $1,300. This year we hope to surpass that with all of this goodness. It's a win win - you win some sweet stuff; WAVI wins with your donations. SDYC is abundantly grateful to the donors, sponsors, presenters and vendors who donated to this year's silent auction. View and bid on items starting at 6:30 Friday 7/19 during the Catered Welcome Social. Here's a little sneak peak of what you'll be bidding on.
Gift cards - Jewelry - Honey - Yoga Clothes & Props - Art - Massage - Goodie Baskets - Services - 2020 SDYC Ticket
Plant sale
And - of course there will still be a plant sale! Peaceful Plants, one of our sponsors, put together some sweet little houseplant arrangements for our center pieces. These peaceful plantings are for sale following the welcome social and through the remainder of the weekend, with the proceeds also benefiting WAVI.
WAVI supply drive
There will be a bin to drop supply donations for WAVI at the conference this year. While you're getting ready, pack some extras to drop in the bin. They're in need of new, full-size (not just travel size) items for their clients. Here's a list of some top needs right now:
Toilet paper
Deodorant
Size 6 diapers
Body Wash and Lotion
Conditioner
Feminine Hygiene Products (Pads and Tampons)
Toothbrushes and toothpaste (adult and children)
Clorox wipes & Lysol Spray
13 and 33 gal trash bags
Thank you for your generosity and community mindedness. This will be fun!!
Haven't got your ticket yet? You can still register. Click here. Our plant sale and vendor market are open to the public all weekend, too. Come on down!
And to close, here's is last year's video from Kristina at WAVI talking a bit about their organization.
